Maximize Your Lawn’s Potential with Better Mowing Habits

At All-Ways Green, we believe that healthy lawns are the result of great treatments and great mowing habits. While our professional lawn care applications will improve any yard, combining those treatments with proper mowing practices can take your lawn’s growth and appearance to the next level.

One of the most effective cultural habits we've observed from top mowing crews is bagging grass clippings. This helps reduce thatch buildup and minimizes the risk of fungal issues, allowing grass to breathe and grow more efficiently. Another key practice is sharpening mower blades at least once a week. Dull blades can tear the grass instead of cutting it cleanly, which may lead to yellowing tips or even dead patches. Lawns should also not be mowed when wet.

It’s also important to be mindful of equipment hygiene. Mowing crews often service multiple properties each day—some of which may not be treated. This can unintentionally spread weed seeds or diseases from one lawn to another. To minimize this risk, we suggest asking lawn care providers to blow off or rinse their mowers before cutting your grass. While this might not always be feasible for every crew, even occasional cleaning can make a noticeable difference in lawn health.

When sharp blades, dry conditions, and clean equipment are combined with All-Ways Green treatments, the results speak for themselves: a lush, vibrant lawn that stands out in any neighborhood.

Let’s work together to make your lawn the best it can be—beautiful and always green.
